Historical Event on 1/4/1931
Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, great orator, eminent journalist, fighter and one of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia, died at London during the first Round Table Conference. He was closely associated to Mahatma Gandhi and took active part in Civil Disobedience Movement.

5/26/1993	The Centre decides to implement the Mandal Commission recommendation to provide 27\% reservation for the socially and educationally backward classes in the Central Services from 15th June.
2/15/1936	Nabin Chandra Bardoloi, freedom fighter, passed away. He was known for his patriotism and zeal for constructive work and was a forceful and emotional orator and debater and an eminent writer in Assamese litrature. He was also a musician and composed good number of patriotic poems and songs.
2/20/1982	The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members of Advance Base Depot, who laid down their lives to repulse several waves of Japanese attacks, was finally shifted to College of Materials Management Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 Apr 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.

12/29/1885	A group of middle-class intellectuals in India, some of them British, found the Indian National Congress to be a voice of Indian opinion to the British government. This was the origin of the later Congress Party which was founded in Bombay.

3/12/1996	Election Commission rejects claim by Indira Congress as the real Congress. The 'hand' symbol will remain with Indian National Congress headed by PVN Rao.
8/25/1975	Bundelkhand University was established in Uttar Pradesh.
