Guwahati, April 25 (IANS) The Assam government on Saturday said the state government's decision on the relaxation of the ongoing lockdown would be decided on Monday, Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said.

The Chief Secretary said no relaxation of the ongoing lockdown, such as opening of shops and beauty parlours etc, has yet been decided. "A decision on the relaxation of doing more economic activities and business would be taken only on April 27," he said on the social media platform.

Another Assam government official said that restrictions on opening trade, business and economic activities, however, were not lifted in Assam considering the prevailing situation caused due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and ongoing lockdown.

"A cabinet meeting is likely to be held on Monday where the matter of relaxation would be discussed," the official added.

Assam has reported 36 COVID-19 positive cases, out of which one person died earlier this month and 19 of them have recovered and discharged from the hospitals.

Amending its April 15 order, the Home Ministry on late Friday and Saturday said: "All shops, including neighbourhood shops and standalone shops, shops in residential complexes, within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, registered under the the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective State and UTs will be allowed to open during the lockdown".

However, the order also said that shops in market places, multi-brand and single brand malls located in municipality areas shall continue to remain closed till May 3.
