Historical Event on 5/11/1998
Three momentous events took place on the day that did the nation proud. Firstly, three underground nuclear tests at Pokhran Range in Rajasthan, which included a hydrogen bomb, were tested; secondly, the successful test firing of the 'Trishul Missile' and thirdly, the maiden Certification test flight of 'Hansa-3', the first-all Composite indigenous two seater aircraft.

8/2/1935	The British pass Govt. of India Act, separating Burma, Aden from India.
3/15/1919	Osmania University was established at Hyderabad.
9/2/1947	Gandhiji is mobbed in Calcutta house; gives up idea of Noakhali visit. Peace efforts intensified.
6/28/1975	As a response to anti-government demonstrations, India imposes the toughest press censorship since independence.
8/8/2000	The Government appoints Air Marshal P. Rajkumar to head the court of enquiry to probe the Alliance Air crash near Patna.
