10/31/1875Vallabhbhai Zaverbhai Patel, 'Iron man of India', was born at Nadiad, Gujarat. He was also the first Deputy Prime Minister of India. His father had served in the army of the Rani of Jhansi against Britishers.
12/27/1976The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members who laid down their lives to repulsed several waves of Japanese attacks. Advance Base Depot is shifted to Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 April 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.

6/9/1964Lal Bahadur Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India when the country was shocked of Jawaharlal Nehru's death and Indo-China war. Shastri gave the quotation ""Jai Jawan Jai Kisan"" which motivated the war-affected Indians to boost their morale. He remained in this office till he died on January 11, 1966 at Taskent. In his cabinet, Indira Gandhi served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
